Some have commented that T will not remember her life before she met us. Her life in China is part of her story and will always be part of who she is. We know that she was taken from two worlds before she even met us. We are thankful for the care she received in China, but the trauma of being uprooted from the only life she ever knew had some consequences. We have worked hard on attachment and bonding issues. We are constantly working to remind of her that this is her forever family. Qian Xiu Yin (T) you have come so far! You are loved by all who meet you!
Today marks another first for T. She actually played in her room this morning before she called for someone to get her. She has never woken up and just 'played'. She has a huge fear of being alone. This was a gigantic step in building her sense of comfort with her surroundings.
Another big change is sleep. We have struggled with sleeping issues since we came home from China. Some of you know how very hard this has been on all of us. Through much prayer and help from the adoption clinic, T is sleeping all night most nights. We feel so happy and blessed. We will never take rest for granted again. T shows the positive signs of adequate rest. She is a happy and sometimes very loud two year old!
This Christmas as we reflect on these big milestones in T's life and the past year as a whole we are especially thankful for all of God's blessings.
